Hi folks, anyone any experience with this engine in terms of timing belt failure? (The Euro 6 130bhp 2.0HDi engine code DW10FUD in a 2017 van)
Timing belt snapped at 60mph. Engine does turn over, cam not rotating obviously.
Anyone know on this engine is it likely game over piston & valve damage full rebuild or has it got the easy snap rockers I've heard about?
I know we need to take the rocker cover off to see if rockers etc damaged then could try a new belt kit, but not sure if it's worth it or if it's a head off, full engine rebuild?
Any advice before we start??
Only 50k miles on it too!
Thanks!

The HDi engine should have the rocker arms. If you can get the rocker breather cover off you should be able to see any broken/bent rockers (they are designed to fail in the cause of a belt failure). I had the timing belt on my C5 jump a tooth, and it broke three rocker arms and bent two (all on the inlet side). I had all sixteen rocker arms and lifters replaced, the timing belt and the timing chain. Fortunately (as the valves enter the cylinder head vertically) the valves themselves were not damaged.
Oh,
to the Forum, by the way.
Oh,

Great, thanks! Will check it out, Here's hoping they kept that design on the newer HD too.

Hello all. Another newbie here. Had the same happen a two weeks ago on a 2017 Peugeot Partner van with the 1.6l BlueHDi engine (41k miles on the clock). 70mph on the motorway, went without any warning.
Does anyone know whether the same is likely to be true for my engine, or is it going to be completely goosed?

On the early 8v HDi engines i have never seen one do valve damage after a timing belt failure, However on this specific engine on the Boxers/Relays I have on quite a few occasions seen camshaft & valve damage even though it has 'easy break' rockers. Take the rocker cover off & check if any of the cam lobes have twisted & moved position on the shaft, also remove the cam pulley & check for a sheared woodruff pin. I have also seen camshaft, rocker & chain damage but the valves were OK. You really need to remove the cams & do a cylinder leak check.
If you need to remove the head do your self a massive favour & take the engine out, it is so much easier on a Boxer/Relay.
Out of curiosity have any of these vans ever had an engine or high pressure fuel pump replaced?

They also normally twist the lobes on the cams & they can bend valves too despite the breakable rockers.
Out of curiosity has the belt broken early? Whats the age/mileage?
