Help!
I have a 1990 (H reg) BX 14 TE St Tropez with a broken diff! Happily, I do have a spare car with the same (TU3) engine, I'm not sure if it is fitted with the same / compatible gearbox though. The spare car is an F reg 1.4 RE. Any help with identification, etc would be much appreciated.
If it is compatible, then I would also be very grateful if someone could point me to some comprehensive instructions (Haynes is not particularly helpful in this instance) as to how to separate gearbox from engine (without removing the engine from the car), and obviously how to remove and reinstall the gearbox, as well as any "tricks of the trade" to make it easier.
Thanks, John

Re: BX St Tropez gearbox swap
I'm pretty sure the boxes will be the same at that age.
Change out should be straight forward enough - jus the usual, pull the driveshafts, strip off stuff over the box, support engine, remove gearbox end mount, remove bell housing bolts, drop the box out. Sounds easy!!

Thanks Richard, yes, sounds deceptively easy - something is bound to be stuck like it's been welded!
