If you are going for an automatic, make sure it is a proper automatic like an AM6 with a torque converter and not one of the piloted manual systems (EGS), as they are expensive to repair and troubleshoot.

The modern PSA automatics were / are generally made by Aisin Warner and are fitted to many vehicle from many vehicle manufacturers. The later PSA EAT6 and EAT8 automatics are 6 and 8 speed units and provide better economy and improvements overall. Just make sure the transmission oil is changed every 30-50 thousand miles to keep them in good condition and you shouldn't have any problems. If a PSA vehicle you are thinking about, the model will determine which type of transmission is available.

Is piloted manual is robotic/electronic?
How can I know which transmission it has exactly?

Sorry - I've been offline for a few days due to storms here.

I think you have answered your own questions now, but yes, the piloted manual is the robotic manual system and should be avoided, as these can be expensive to troubleshoot and repair. From what I can tell, there were no C3 Picassos with full automatics available.

If you need to know about other Citroen / Peugeot vehicles you see and what gearboxes they have, just pop the VIN code up here and I can tell you.

The Cactus was well-received generally. It is very roomy and has Citroen's Advanced Comfort suspension. This means it has the Progressive Hydraulic Cushions, which are basically a new and exclusive design of advanced shock absorber that provides superior ride quality and less roll and pitch. The same system is fitted to the C5 Aircross and will likely be making its way onto other PSA vehicles.

The cactus is a good practical car, with touchscreen to control most vehicle functions.

As for the model you have mentioned above, the petrol 82 Bhp version lacks a turbo, so is ok for town driving, but can be under-powered. Consider the 110 or 130 HP petrol engines if you want more power - but make sure servicing and especially the timing belt service and check has been done as these use a belt in oil system for the timing belt. The correct specification engine oil is essential as are proper servicing on the Puretech 1.2 petrol engines. So a full dealer service history should be a 'must have' on these vehicles.

It depends on the engine, but on some EB2ADT engines, it can be as early as 62k miles, but the belt needs to be checked and inspected earlier for signs of wear. The belts can break up, causing material to clog the oil filter and this leads to oil starvation and could affect braking vacuum. That's why I mentioned that the exact specification oil must be used.

The diesels are very reliable.
