Fitting side windows to a Citroën C15

Hi all,

I've just bought a pair of second hand side windows for my C15. I was assuming I'd have to cut out the metal panel that's there currently though on closer inspection I noticed that there is a rubber seal around the metal panels.

Does anyone know if it will be as simple as prying the metal out of the seals and replacing them with the windows plus the chunkier seals that came with them?

I’m amazed no one replied to this thread and appreciate that it’s a bit late now! Did you ever get the windows fitted? I’ve recently bought a C15 and am looking at doing the same. The panels should just pop out as you said.

There probably haven't been any responses as this can be a 30+ year old vehicle and there may be no active members that have a C15. I've actually only just seen this post after you resurrected the thread with your response.

These are the available options:

(5) Sliding Side Window (6) is the Tightening Knob

(3) Is the Side Glass Blanking Panel (4) Is the Lining Piping

(1) Is the fixed Window (2) is the Weather strip

There are no instructions on removing / refitting these but I suspect these are bonded on.

Just noticed this, and my daily transport is a c15. I'm pretty certain the van metal panel is bonded into place. When they're removed the aperture is correct for the windows as long as you have the correct seals. Go easy on removing the panels as the metal is very thin and easy to distort. Probably best to warm them with a heat gun first.

If an adhesive is needed to make the new seal+window watertight, use polyurethane adhesive (available in standard sealant cartridges). It sticks really well to rubber/metal/glass, and is what is normally used to fit car windscreens. Clean-up solvent for it is petrol.

I had a couple of C15’s, loved them and are currently looking for another, anyway I fitted the side windows to both of them, the metal panels are simply bonded in. Carefully cut away the mastic whilst applying pressure from the inside to pop out the metal panel and clean up the aperture, the windows are simply held in by the rubbers which are installed the traditional way of using rope/string in the rubber to pull the window into place from the inside as you’d do with a windscreen.
