C4 Picasso MK1 Passenger door electronic problem

Unread post by nicolla »

So, this is the problem

My passenger window is not working when I press the button on the passenger side.
But it works fine if I press the buttons on drivers side, I can get the passenger window up/down.
Also, my wing mirror won't fold or adjust in any direction (the controls are on the drivers side).

Where should I look for the problem?
Still haven't been to the electrician, thought that maybe I can do something myself

First thing is to check the Driver's side module in the door that controls the passenger window and mirror. This should lever up if you carefully use some trim removal tools as shown below:

When you have removed it, you should be able to carefully remove the case to see inside. Water can get in over time and cause corrosion to the circuit board. Use some electrical contact cleaner to clear up any corrosion.

If that does not fix it, then you may have a wiring break between the driver's door and the A Pillar. As the door is opened and closed over the years, it stresses the wiring and can cause a break to occur.

I suggest you take the protective tube off and inspect the wires for breaks or damage.

You think that the driver side module can mess it up?
As I mentioned, I can put that window down from the drivers side, but can't from passengers side.

I'm more into some kind of wire break, but I'm not that professional, probably will take it to the electrician to check with the instruments and see what's going on.
Can the passenger's side module cause open circuit and stop things?

The contact pads in the control unit can be dirty or corroded.
Clean with Isopropanol or an electrical contact cleaner such as Servisol.
NOT WD40.
Sometimes they can be cleaned with a pencil eraser.

Yes, because the driver's side module is the main controller and links to the other side of the car, but if the driver's side works all operations (mirrors and windows) on the passenger side, then focus on the passenger side wiring between the door and the A pillar in that case.

Unfortunately, the mirror on the right doesn't work from the driver's side :D But the window on the passenger side works from the driver's side lol.
I'll see, will go from that module, and then I'll see if the wiring loom somewhere in the door has some signs that I should pay attention to.

I'll give you an example - I recently had some work done in the garage and when I got my Aircross back, I went to adjust the mirrors back to my preferred position only to find the passenger mirror would not operate nor fold back.

It turned out that the garage had probably slammed the door too hard and one of the connectors on the driver's side master control panel had come loose and disconnected! Clipped it back in and all back to normal. So it's why I mentioned if ALL the controls from the driver's master control panel operate ALL the passenger side functions, then your problem should may be on the passenger side door wiring or switch.

If the Driver's master control panel does NOT operate all function on the passenger side, (but the functions work using the passenger door switches), then you need to look a the driver's door module connectors / wiring.

It all makes sense. I opened the door panel and opened the module you mentioned earlier. There was some kind of sticky material of the contacts that control the mirrors, I cleaned everything but still nothing unfortunately :) We'll see whats the next step
