Perhaps too late but what about your bank?
May not be universal but mine does car and home insurances.

NCB counting would be useful, but unsure whether they would cover 1992 and 1996 vehicles, i.e. recent classics.

Mick, I will check out my bank.

Having just re-read the thread I notice that 3 people, including me, have come up with cityinsurance so I would at least ask them the questions!!

Maybe worth a call to verify if they cover the older cars Chris - and if so, the NCB could make a heck of a difference. In either case you should still get a 14 day cooling off period if you wanted to cancel the one you've just taken out it if this was a better deal.

Thanks, Marc. The do cover classic cars, and NCB appears to be inclubable. Have filled out their quote request, and will speak with them on Monday.
Not yet signed up with anyone, so still time to check out.

I would keep shopping around, preferably with an independent broker. You should be able to get an NCB allowance based on documented EU history (there is no binding rule on that). You may also find that (if you want) you can get the agreed mileage limit increased with little or no change to the premium.

Good news Chris - I hope the quote is reasonable for you too. I added another one to my post in addition to the Keith Michaels link.
