citroen c4 esp error and engine stopping

2006 model 1.6 hdi citroen c4 gives an esp warning while driving on the road and stops and does not work again. lexia 3 connected to device only U1003 error appears. masters could not solve this problem. sorry for the translation

U1003 is a communication fault on the CAN network. It's not specific as the CAN network interconnects with lots of systems.

It depends entirely on what the issue is. The CAN networks connect lots of systems up. If there is a communication fault along the way then a backup mode kicks in, but there will continue to be faults until the problem is tracked down and resolved.

Normally if there is an issue with a specific system like the ESP, there will be specific codes recorded against this system - like a faulty wheel speed sensor for example. But with general CAN faults that are unspecified, it really needs somebody with knowledge of CAN systems to track it down. You also may have other fault codes recorded, but your diagnostic equipment may not be able to read them, so that is another possibility.
