Citroen DS5 Hybrid Diesel 2014 No Crank No Start

Post by filippovs »

Hi everyone, i’m looking for help, maybe someone would be able give me any advice. I bought Citroen DS5 Hybrid Diesel 2014 non-runner and guy who was selling this car, gave me paperwork from official Peugeot/Citroen dealer centre in London where it says that ECU is faulty. I thought if it's ECU, i would fix it easy but after getting 1 ECU repaired and 2nd one cloned i realised that is not faulty ECU so i called electrician guy and he also couldn’t find issue why car is not starting. Garages in UK doesn’t want take Citroen with electric fault. So after i bought diagbox and connected it to my car where i found lots of faults in HCU2. If HCU is the same ECU? Or i should check everything what is related to hybrid system? I have attached photos of faults i’m getting on diagbox. Would appreciate any help or advice which would point me to the right direction. Thanks

Welcome along

That's lots of faults, although they seem to be repeated. Can you clear them? What comes back? Is the normal 12V battery actually OK?

First thing i done - i bought brand new 12V battery, replaced fuse box in engine compartment. And i send ecu for full repair to ecu specialists. After i thought that maybe they didn’t done proper job and i bought another ECU with the same number and cloned it but after all this still nothing. And faults are permanent which i can’t clear. Just wonder what symptoms is when hybrid battery is not good? Or if hybrid battery would be dead, i wouldn’t be able even to switch on ignition? I already check every fuse and everything what i could check, but still no success. I found only 1 fuse blown which was 12V cigarette lighter socket. Is my first time when i own Citroen and looks like garages around me doesn’t like work with French cars(especially with electric faults) because they are saying - they don’t have right tools.

That's quite true - a lot of these Hybrid systems are quite complex and you do need the right tools. I suspect you are dealing with the wrong ECU. There is a separate ECU for the traction system, and this ECU alone costs just under £2,500, which probably made it beyond economic repair for the previous owner. That's without the added diagnostic, labour and the programming costs of course, which would likeley take the repair costs well over £3000.

Hi All,

I am new to this forum I got a Citroen DS5 Hybrid 4 which isn't cranking at all on the dash is has random messages like,
Electric Fault get the vehicle repaired
Engine fault Stop the vehicle
and Parking brake fault get vehicle repaired.

On Autel scanner it states the BSI fault codes
Engine ECU info missing comes as sign of interrogation
Fault codes are as below,

UF100 00
B180E 87
B1601 15
B162C 11
B1418 00
B1818 1C
U1F41 87
U1F37 87

One important note on this car the reversible charger was knackered due to a seized bearing inside it which is replaced and fixed new drive belt fitted but still no change. it never cranked at all./

the recent change is the security alarm starts to go off as soon as the battery is connected.

Please help to get this car back on road.
