C5 X7 Indicator Audible Warning Issue

Unread post by admiral51 »

Hi all

Something odd is going on with my C5.
The indicators work correctly, no bulb blown and the dash is showing them working as it should, same with the hazard warning switch.
But i do not have the audible indication. It was working yesterday but not today and talking to the good lady she says it hadn't been working for a week or so ( wish she told me #-o ).
The only other issue is that i have a headlight bulb out but cannot see this being the cause as the headlight bulb was out yesterday but audible indication was :?

Any ideas or should i just do a BSI reset ?

BSI reset would be my first port of call. Well second actually, I'd change the bulb first just in case.

Do any of the other audible warnings work? eg if you try to drive away with the door open or handbrake on. I believe they all come from the same little speaker in the comms unit.

Not sure but just going to check :-D

Okay quick update
Driving off with the door open produces no audible alarm, it also does not show on the display that a door is open which i am sure it always did.

Will have to charge up the laptop and run a diagbox session on it tomorrow to see if it has thrown up any codes.
Being a cheap skate i have ordered some headlight bulbs from Amazon for both the C5 and the C4 so will "borrow" a working bulb and check again before i put the diagbox on it.

Thanks again for the input so far from you all :)

Watch any bulbs from Amazon or ebay - a very high percentage are fakes as they do not distinguish between sellers - they all go in the same picking bin whether from OSRAM, Philips or 'Won Hung Lo'.

I try and get the headlight bulbs from Lidl's when they are in store and change them in pairs.

I have replaced both headlight bulbs ( appear to be genuine Philips X-tremeVision Pro150 [-o< )and done a Global test and it came back with zero issues.
I have checked and the visual warning for the door being open and for leaving the lights on show on the dash, however i have no audible warning.
I still do not have any indicator noise.
Once it stops raining i will do the BSI reset.
The only other thing i can think of is that i changed the head unit a while back and took pictures of all parameters on the old unit to transfer to the new head unit.
I have to admit i haven't driven it often since i changed it over so unsure how long this issue has been going on.

Thanks in advance

That's the cause. One of the settings wasn't transferred.

I have tried the BSI reset and no change so i have an option atleast :)

I still have the original head unit, the only issue i had with it was bluetooth connectivity so i can swap it back and see if the issue continues or not.
It will also enable me to double check the parameters against my pictures and i can also check the parameters i have set for the replacement unit before i remove it.

Any thoughts welcome

With help from Marc he has identified 3 settings that need to be changed ( original post in Audio/Telematics ), however i have been unable to change them so not sure yet if my version of DB is up to the task.
Will not be doing anything until next weekend but i will be putting back in the original head unit with its original settings to check that everything works as it did before.

Thanks for all the help, really appreciate it.

Just a quick (late) update.
I have put the old head unit back in and no change it still makes no noise apart from the odd time where it is intermittent, some times the noise is there, some times not same as with the replacement unit.
It does seem that it is down to an issue with unit located on the steering column which is a little bit pricey :)
However i have done a bit of digging and it seems that to pass the MOT the indicators need to produce a visual and/or audible warning that they are operating.
I have the visual warning so going to let it be for the time being until i can get some overtime in

Just a quick update.
C5 went for its MOT and passed with no advisories and having driven for a couple of weeks the audible warning for the indicators is working as it should both prior and after the MOT.
So totally confused but as the old saying goes, if it is not broke, don't fix it till it is broke :)
