Did a nice walk today ended up being a circular one which involved crossing the river twice. Once by the conventional method of a footbridge, and the other...

I remember following a Granada down the M5 many years, it had the registration A1, I believe it belonged to Dunlop.

There is a little bit about Registration A1 here on this blog
It was on an unassuming Rover Sterling parked on Sleaford Sea front Sussex in 1992.
According to the blog the number was the first-ever registration issued in Britain, to the second Earl Russell by the London County Council way back in 1903.
Wiki has a decent page on the A1 registration plate which mentions the Dunlop connection. In 1985, BTR plc gained the "A 1" plate after it acquired Dunlop. The company's headquarters in Birmingham placed it on a Ford Granada.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A1_regist ... ber%201903.

Today the DVLA have Registration A1 recorded as

MINI COOPER S AUTO 2007
Registration number: A1
Body type: 3 Door Hatchback
Colour: Black
Date of first registration: May 2007

This would have been in the '70s or 80s.

Definitely the 80's if it was on the Granada...a 2.8X Estate apparently according to this discussion on Honest John.

I am considering doing a number 2, but I've managed a number 4, and yes I can confirm it wasn't difficult.
https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... 75#p708175.

Number 1 is an end of month thing 4 days to go. I've probably put 90 miles on the Bargain Basement Micra today
Dont over work it usually used for carthorse, and tip visiting duties, but occasionally gets a day out.
https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... 87#p708187

and I do believe I could set a Number 3 whatsthisthen? but it will require a small amount of joining in.
and here it is viewtopic.php?p=708194#p708194

Oh yes and here's a shutter click for POTD...so easy to join in with its a given and doesnt need any promotion on a list :-D

Screw in stoppers on pop bottles with a little red rubber sealing ring...must be from late 60's early 70's.

Always a joyous find in the undergrowth, this one from the other day near Tyne Watersmeet near Hexham.
