308 1.6 hdi sport,not starting

Hi,i have just bought a 2009 Peugeot 308 1.6 hdi sport, the problem I’m having is the battery is showing fully charged but it won’t start unless i put jump leads on,then when it’s running the abs/ esp lights are on and the steering is very notchy,any ideas please

A fair chance that the original battery is shot and needs replacing. Most places that sell batteries will test for free but will of course expect to sell you a new one.
Often less expensive to buy online from .e.g. The Battery Guys, Tayna and others.

Thanks for the reply,i did wonder if it was battery or possibly crank sensor

Have you got an electric steering pump or a hydraulic one? It would be worth checking the condition of the alternator and belt also.
It won't be the crank sensor if adding more umph gets it started.
Also make sure when / if you change the battery you follow the BSI reset procedure. It can be found on here via a search.

Not sure which power steering pump it has,I’m going to try and get on with it today,I’ve read about the bsi reinstalling and so I’ll be doing that,
Hopefully i should know more today,i only mentioned the crank sensor as i recently had a c4
Petrol with similar symptoms and that turned out to be the crank sensor

Seems job done,changed the battery and all seems good,thanks for the help guy’s
