Has anything been changed on the engine since it last worked properly? Anything at all?

So, new battery fitted and then it wouldn't start? Did you follow the shutting down procedure before disconnecting the old battery?

I would suggest using the BSI reset procedure and see if that cures your problem. It also details what should be done next time a battery is disconnected.

Hi yes I fitted the new battery then had the problem I didn’t realise there’s a certain way to disconnect and refit the battery just assumed it was straightforward swap it over I will read the article on the BSI reset and see if that helps tomorrow thank you very much for your help fingers crossed that might be it thanks again

Most times you'll get away with it as you tend to delay a bit after switching off, opening the bonnet, look around for the right tools, faff a bit more and then disconnect! It's when you're on the ball that you'll get the problems.

When you turn the engine over on the key do you get any messages coming up on the display mentioning Engine Immobiliser? Do you have another key you can try?

I think at this point you need to have any error codes read by a high end code reader. Diagbox is the preferred choice for this.

Morning thanks for getting back to me there’s no engineer immobiliser message I have tried both keys just in case there’s still nothing but yes I think you’re right I’ll have to see if there’s someone who can do the diagnostics and is mobile but the car is only worth about £600if I can’t find anyone local to me It will probably be cheaper just to scrap the car
Thanks again for all your help though

Have a look at this list of forum members with Diagboxes (Lexia is actually the name of an older system but many still call all the variants Lexia) and see if there's someone local who can do a diagnostic. Be aware that not everyone is a regular visitor to the forum so may not reply immediately. I'm sure some are not even FF members any more. But keep trying.
