Tire pressure sensors C5 X7
Can I swap a set of wheels with tire pressure sensors between two cars and get them to connect to the new car?
How long does it take for the sensor to enter sleep mode and how do I wake a wheel out of sleep mode?

Re: Tire pressure sensors C5 X7
I dont see why not but you will likely need an exciter to reprogram them to a new car along with a decent diagnostic tool.

Re: Tire pressure sensors C5 X7
There are at least two different types of sensor depending on the year of the car the wheels came from and they're not swappable. What years are we talking about here?

Re: Tire pressure sensors C5 X7
Of course they are not compatible.
I don't know the year, getting a set from the scrapper.
Damn really regret supporting Citroen these days.

Re: Tire pressure sensors C5 X7
Of course if its the right part i dont see why they cant be reprogramed to another car.
You can actually have 2 full sets of sensors for the car programmed. Designed for people who swap between summer & winter wheels/tyres.

Re: Tire pressure sensors C5 X7
Not sure what the difference is but servicebox lists one as EU standard 64.02 ??
There were 2 part numbers for this type but the older one has now superseded onto the newer part number. These one look like they have rubber valve stems.
There is another listing & there seems to be only one part no & this one looks like a metal valve stem.

Re: Tire pressure sensors C5 X7
I tired the set from the other car, which have been unused for at least 1yr, my car did not detect any of them. so I'm guessing dead battery or just not detected.
I don't think there is a cheap way to fix this,.

Re: Tire pressure sensors C5 X7
When the sensors detect no vehicle movement they enter Parking Mode. They then only send a data transmission frame every 13 hours instead of every 1 minute when in Driving Mode (unless there is a puncture or deflation detected then it's every 5 seconds). They never go back into the factory shipping 'Stop' mode once they have been programmed - this mode is only for new sensors when being stored and prior to the first activation.
However you do need to programme them if the wheels are rotated, so with that said, I would expect the same operation would be required when putting on the other set.

The sensors do read, but the car doesn't read them, It could be because I changed all four at one go. I'll see if can put two of the old ones back on and see if they detect.

Re: Tire pressure sensors C5 X7
When you pair these, you need to do all of them at the same time. My Citroen garage had 3 failed attempts at pairing one of mine when it kept giving me fault. It would work for about 3 minutes after driving off and go on the fritz again. On the fourth attempt the mech realised he had to do all 4 together and that cured the issue.

Re: Tire pressure sensors C5 X7
I'm not familiar with the X7, does it auto detect new sensors?
I'd be surprised if it's that much different to a C6 which will detect the position of a saved senor when the wheels are moved around but a new set of sensors do need to be programmed before they are detected. A quick Lexia session by someone who has a senor code reader should do the trick.
If anyone in or around Edinburgh wants this done hit me with a PM me.

The system needs to be programmed even if the wheels are rotated on the X7.

Re: Tire pressure sensors C5 X7
that's a bit surprising and must be a right PITA for our european members who regularly have both winter and summer sets of wheels!GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑28 Jan 2022, 17:59 The system needs to be programmed even if the wheels are rotated on the X7.
What's the point of being able to program two sets of sensors if you have to reprogram everytime

Re: Tire pressure sensors C5 X7
The system can be programmed for both sets - just for those very situations. What I'm saying is they need programming if they are rotated or the positions changed. So as long as you mark the position of each wheel, they won't need programming again once fitted back to the original location.

In that case the programming menu must be different to that of the C6 with doesn't identify the sensor location. It simply has a list of upto 10 sensors and the pick-up aerials under each wing determines the position to be presented on the screen. I guess the x7 is a slight advance on the C5II which IIRC only has space for 4 or 5 sensors which need to be programmed to position.
