Maybe cured by Stellantite?
Symptoms include a bad case of Stellantosis?

Normally I would put this story in Car news Global and Domestic, but its nice to have a thread to mop up the rise and fall of Stellantis and their latest load of uninspiring news.

What has happened to the Ellesmere port Astra. :?:

Well its being resurrected as the Rüsselsheim Astra, but it is going to have a BEV version in 2024...
The new Astra will also be launched as a purely battery-electric car. This week, the Stellantis brand DS Automobiles had also announced that the DS 4 will be available in a BEV version from 2024. The DS 4 and the Astra not only share the EMP2 as their technical basis, but they are also both built at Opel’s Rüsselsheim plant. An electric version of the DS 4 would have made little sense when assembled on the same line without a corresponding electric vehicle version of the Astra.

Amazon to support development of new Stellantis infotainment system

Stellantis has partnered with Amazon to jointly-develop its next-generation of in-car infotainment systems, to be used across its 14 brands.

It’s part of the car maker’s strategy to generate more than £17m in revenue from new digital services by 2030.
"STLA Smart Cockpit" (Stellantis tagline not mine!) is on its way.

Possibly not Marc,

"The STLA SmartCockpit, which will run in millions of Stellantis vehicles globally starting in 2024, will provide personalised, intuitive in-vehicle experiences through AI-enhanced applications for entertainment, Alexa-enabled voice assistance, navigation, vehicle maintenance, ecommerce marketplaces, and payment services."

I can't see them excluding Apple - that accounts for a huge number of people and they are simply not going to convert to Android devices on this basis I'm afraid.

Without having read or seen the announcement, I suspect they will be using Alexa for the internal voice interaction, but will also have CarPlay connectivity in addition via WiFi by then.

It would appear that CarPlay support by Alexa is already available in parts of the USA. I am sure its development will be included in the Stellantis development:

Here's the official press release from la bouche de cheval January 5th 2022

Amazon and Stellantis Collaborate to Introduce Customer-Centric Connected Experiences Across Millions of Vehicles, Helping Accelerate Stellantis’ Software Transformation
( I think they need a new headline writer!)
Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis.
“By leveraging artificial intelligence and cloud solutions, we will transform our vehicles into personalized living spaces and enhance the overall customer experience, making our vehicles the most wanted, most captivating place to be, even when not driving.”
Anyone want their car to be a "personalised Living space" :?:

I distrust any statement that uses the word "leveraged".

Each vehicle will no doubt have its own wind turbine on the roof to power all this 'kit' and the car of course.

I've run that through GoogleTranslate and it comes out as:

"We've found another way to monetise your ownership or use of our cars by selling your personal data - including driving habits, destinations, how many occupants, general useage, conversation topics and other un-specified items - in partnership with Amazon, but don't worry, it's only information important to Amazon's revenue stream that will be acquired."

....or am I just being cynical ? 8-[
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(
