Thought I might write this up- given that I have searched for an age to get the answer. Not a sniff on any web searches I have done.
For reference this is my 2008 C4GP with mono tone instrument panel.
The problem began last July when the car went in for Mot. Afterwards the current mileage display was absent. A major issue on this very low mileage car.
The drivers handbook describes the instrument panel Command Button C. as being Lighting rheostat. This is wrong- button C is Personalisation of the instrument panel (display of desired information)
And that's the solution!
