Renault Trafic - Strange Problem

Unread post by Trafic2011 »

Hello, I recently owned a Renault Traffic 2011 2.0 DCI. It has been observed for some time that the level meter for the diesel meter does not read correctly. Filled tank to the top, and reports that there is no fuel when starting (everything else works - tachometer, speedometer and everything else). When driving back and forth for a while, it reads once a full tank, then half and then returns to zero and the reserve light is on.
The service diagnosed him and found no problem in the mileage itself, and showed data that he reported the float in the tank as capacity. The tank came down, no cables disconnected.
I will be happy for someone with a similar problem and solution to answer.

I can't help you with Renault, but from experience of other vehicles, common problems can be the fuel sender gauge in the tank being stuck (the float needle contact gets stuck and gives faulty readings). This can correct itself or if broken, will need replacing. Otherwise the signal from the sender to the ECU (likely the engine ECU) may be the cause. Renault should be able to do a diagnostic on the fuel system by checking the fuel quantity readings against the actual quantities. They may be able to recalibrate it if it's incorrect.
