C5 tourer panoramic roof blind

Next question! My sunroof blind is broken! The 4 sections of the sliding blind have disconnected and although they can be reconnected they soon disconnect again if you open the blind. It seems that the link between the 2nd and 3rd sections is the weakest and that it is the pushing action of the front most section against the others that dislodges the lot where they all then jam up at the back in a sort of 80% open position.

I have a cunning plan for keeping the 2nd and 3rd sections together but it might not work depending on what's supposed to happen with these panels.

Question is: when it opens what is supposed to happen with the panels when they reach the back full open position? Do they all continue in a row and vanish into the rear headlining like a freight train in a tunnel or is there supposed to be some kind of 'stacking' of the panels when they reach the back? I ask because it has been like this since I got the car and was one of the 'accepted broken' details on the car when I took it on.

I can see how each panel is supposed to stay linked to the next one but I can't determine what has broken / worn out at each link.

Ok I think my cunning plan will not work because I think the sliding seconds are supposed to disconnect and kind of stack at the rear. My problem is they disconnect too early and then jam

Perhaps there is a restriction in the sliding mechanism that causes them to separate early.
If the guides are accessible they may benefit from cleaning, I expect that dust will accumulate there, and possibly lubrication?

You're right! pushing the rearmost pair manually is quite stiff. These two have remained joined properly throughout. The front powered one can also stay joined to the second one it's the second to third that causes the problem and on closer inspection one of the two rear plastic guides on the second panel has a broken off tab that I think is supposed to keep it sliding in the groove. Probably pure unobtainium so I've manually slid the lot fully back and in that state the powered one slides fully back and neatly parks itself in top of the others all out of sight. So the sunroof is fully open now and I think I'll just leave it unless I get lucky with a sliding panel off a breaker some time.
