It's been a long time since I've spotted a 205 in the wild so I took 2 pictures.

Very Close. The 2nd Fife (Dunfermline) Scouts founded 1908 run the show at Nine Acres, up at the Crook of Devon.

I think geograph photo's of the day have to be selected at random :-D

This is as ordinary and uninteresting as pictures get but it is December 20th 2021 Geograph Photo of the day.

Reading round Mauchline it has some claims to fame in the field of Olympic sport and one of Scotland's culinary specialities...

and now an anonymous bungalow on Clarinda Crescent gets its moment on FCF POTD.

Everyone had a curiosity by-pass?

On a plate
This curling stone tops one of the gateposts at the Barskimming Road Mauchline works of Kays of Scotland. Kays have the unique rights to quarry granite from Ailsa Craig, and they use it produce curling stones of exceptionally high quality. Kays stones have been used in every Winter Olympic games since 1924,

This record-breaking haggis (1234 pounds - half a ton!) was distributed to the public in exchange for donations at Mauchline Holy Fair. The specially-made tank it was cooked in can be seen behind the "table" - it took two days to cook.

Started watching Dr Zhivago about a year ago but it was late and went off to bed after the first disc.
Must have another go at it.

IMCDB Identifies this as a 1932 Ford V-8 and the interesting bit...it has a wood gas generator fitted.

So what's the weather like on Christmas Day 2021 in your corner of planet earth.

Northumberland kicks it off
Blue Skies and slightly fluffy white clouds at the second this picture was taken

There is an interest and a story to be found from every snapshot even this rather uninspiring boxing day at the beach scene, appearing as geograph Photo of the day today.

Follow the geograph link of this picture, and select one of the related albeit sad even grotesque images at the side and you may find out that the North Sea is a mere puddle for some of the most magnificent creatures on the planet. The Wash is a particularly common place for such events.
Sperm whales are deep-sea mammals that tend to live and hunt at a depth of around 3,000m. While females and their young stick to the tropics, males range further afield and are regularly spotted around Iceland, Norway and Shetland. However, they quickly run into trouble if they enter the North Sea. This is because it lies on the European continental shelf, where the seafloor is only 200m down at its deepest point.
Sperm whales rely on sonar to navigate. They send out sound pulses, which bounce back off distant surfaces, helping them to form a clear picture of their underwater world. This doesn't work on a shallow sandy seabed, like Britain's, and whales quickly become disorientated

Awoke this morning to be greeted by the combination of a blocked rainwater drain and heavy rainfall!! I have reported it to the council and will sit back to watch them arrive and clear it up while watching for flying bacon for my sandwiches!! :-D The real issue being that if we get more rain in the next couple of hours it is likely to creep over the path and down into our neighbour's garages which may result in expensive insurance claims!!
