Renault Fluence 1.6 16V Automatic Gearbox "Check ESP & Check Gearbox Failure"

Unread post by alex392 »

Hello everyone, thank you for having me here. I have a problem with my 2009 Renault Fluence 1.6 16v Automatic Gearbox LZBR0A

When I drive the car at an interval of about 80 km, a message appears on the board, namely "check auto gearbox", after which it disappears instantly and another message "check esp" appears, which is constantly on. When this message appears on the dashboard, the gearbox goes into safe mode, or so I think because the gearbox doesn't change normally. In order to be able to drive it again, I have to remove the card key and restart the engine, after which it works normally, but after 80 km it appears again.

My question is, has anyone ever faced this problem? What can it be?

Thank you all.

Hi Alex,

I'm afraid the Renault Section of the FCF is a bit of a desert as far as quick replies and detailed specific knowledge on Renault is concerned. Every so often I will try to assist with Clio matters.

Dug this out from a Renault forum which may be able to help. The Fluence isnt a common model, and appears to have an odd auto gearbox/ Efficient dual clutch (EDC) arrangement in some cases as pointed out in this link.

Cheers Neil, thanks for the info. provided the thing is that this Fluence i have was produced between 09-11 and the gearbox isn't an EDC one but DP0 gearbox which was built from early 96' until 2011 so the problem i face with this particularry problem seems to be from a sensor inside the Gearbox namely "solanoids". I'll check this with a mechanic next week and let you know about it. Thanks again Neil.

Seems like the Renault DP0 could well be the same as the AL4 Gearbox in Peugeot/Citroen. Can't be sure.
This would suggest they are
Plenty of references in the Citroen/Peugeot section of the forum for the AL4 Box and probably a good deal of experience tech knowledge to call on.

Replacing the solenoids is referenced on a few threads....have a peruse of this search list of topics see if it helps.

search.php?keywords=AL4+Solenoid&terms= ... mit=Search

Replacing the solenoids is a common job which comes up on a simple search for the AL4/DP0 box but whether that is your problem, remains to be discovered.

Try and get a reading/printout of the faults and their codes. Do you have different tyres on your car or a mix of brand new and worn? Also, are all your tyres at their proper pressures.

PS. Welcome to FCF.

The firm Automatic Choice have pretty comprehensive catalogues of repair parts for auto gearboxes.
Their two pages for AL4 and DP0 boxes are identical, plus the technical advice here also covers both
