That looks like a dangerous fail Steve, you haven't reported any associated serious consequences so hope there were none. So far coil spring replacements in my experience have only been the hardly noticeable pigtails pinging picked up at MOT time.

Fortunately the sharp bit was pointed away from the tyre, which rubbed against the rounded part that wore a track through it. It did go with an impressive bang though.

And no doubt a lightening of the wallet, plus, plus...... After all, don't we just sit around waiting to instantly respond to their next crisis?

There will be a time when there will be no more aerial cables here. Unfortunately, by that time, all the houses will be replaced by apartment buildings.

When we moved here, in 1995, it was a dirt road, no landline telephone, no cable tv and no sewer network. Also, in 1995 the first mobile phone operator was available in Romania (Connex, now Vodafone). Now everything is available here, including 10Gb fiber optic internet starting January 2022. Now I have 1 Gbps fiber optic internet connection and the roads are paved.

The main road (5 minutes walk from here) has underground wires for everything and LED street lighs, it looks pretty modern I would say.

Also, if I already started talking about my city, I might add this: it seems there is a chance to have an underground Metro system in about 10 years. The process is already started it seems but there is a lot of things to go well for this to work. Also, it would be the 2nd city in Romania having an underground Metro line, after the capital, Bucharest. We already whitness a total transformation of the public transport, which, at this moment, is the best in Romania. (Might I add, I was cooking alive in London in 2019 but all the buses / trolleys / trams in Cluj have AC). New trolleybus lines were introduced and, at least for me, this really nice as it's not so commun arround here. But I'm getting offtopic so I will stop here :)

Very difficult to go off topic on "picture of the day" Anything goes! More important than being bang on topic is participating in my view, and you have already made some interesting contributions.

There's all sorts of threads in the Off-Topic Chat Lounge which you will come across. There is one on "Public and Commercial Transport", mopping up latest developments. Just contribute and join in where you can
