Lexia Diagbox.

Post by Nickcc102 »

Hello. I bought a Lexia/Diagbox in 2014 for my 308SW which I sold a few years later, the car not the diagbox. I’ve now got a September 2017 2008 and find there’s no 2008 listed, I’ve also been told that my Diagbox is too old for the newer 2008 software, if this is correct can you tell me which Lexie/Diagbox and software I now need and if possible a likely source. Many thanks.

Your VCI (the hardware interface) should be OK for the later vehicles and newer versions of the software, assuming it is a revision 'C'.

Diagbox is the name of the actual software. Versions earlier then V9.** are only good for vehicles around 2015 or maybe just a little later.

Later vehicles 2016 on (but this really depends on the actual model) need Diagbox Version 9.**. The downside is that a lot of functionality has been moved to on-line mode for configuration of ECUs. So although you can read and clear faults and undertake some maintenance operations, any telecoding of ECUs is unlikely to be available without paid access.

Thanks Marc. Seems I’ll have to trust the dealer. I’ve just booked in for a 4 year major service £330 and when I asked the dealer if they did a software diagnostic they said Peugeot held the view that if it worked ok then it was best left alone. As someone who's been brought up with with a planned maintenance rather than a maintenance by defect school of thought this view surprises me.

The electronics are constantly monitored and many temporary faults that can occur are automatically reset when the right conditions allow. Only permanent faults that are deemed to be significant will result in some form of warning on the dash as an indication of an issue or will flag an engine management light with or without an associated message - which is when it really needs diagnosing if it is something that the owner can't do.

I think Peugeot charge £120 for up to an hour of diagnostic time - so it's why they don't undertake this unless there is a reason. Hopefully everything should be ok for you.

Thanks Marc. Daughter bought a 2016 3008 with same 1.2 engine as mine, one week after using it engine warning light came on and limp mode. Tried to start next morning to take to Garage she bought it from but wouldn't rev up, turns out cam belt had delaminated and blocked oil pump although Peugeot dealer stated new belt fitted 4 thousand miles ago. Returned car to selling garage, not Peugeot, and got full refund. She would have been happy with recon engine but Peugeot only agreed to new oil pump and belt.

Yes it's a known fact these 3 Cylinder EB2 engines have a 'belt in oil' system and early models had quality iossues with the timing belt delaminating and the debris blocking the oil pump. It has led to the destruction of the engine in some cases. The initial timing belt service on some of these is therefore reduced to about 62k miles or 6 years!

It's also critical that the exact correct specification of oil is used on these engines.

As these EB2 engines are being used on more models today, it's something people really need to be aware of.

Haven't the latest versions of these engines reverted to a chain for timing? Even with the latest (4th?) generation of belt it's still too much of a risk for me.

No, still belts. Once changed initially at 60k miles (depending on exact engine), the next recommended change is at about 120k miles or 12 years.

Hi, I have Lexia 3 interface (full chip from Ebay) it was working fine for a couple of months on my C5 X7. Today I was connected to my PC after a month and there is no sign of life. Green light doesn't even light, PC doesn't recognize interface. I was checked with different USB cables but still nothing. Anyone has some ideas, how to fix it? Thanks
