They must have been talking about the novels in which he did have a Lancia to begin with!! In the prequel series Endeavour on BBC he drove a Black Mk1 Jag. As far as I remember he only ever drove the MkII in the TV series Morse!! :-D

Indeed the set of Questions was on "The Inspector Morse Novels"

and the actual question was
Although Morse drives a maroon Jaguar in later reprinted novels, in the earlier books he drives what other make of car , the faithful old vehicle being described as "powerful, reliable and 300 miles on a full tank". :?:

The model wasn't specified in the books, but could have been something like this. Others have suggested an Aurelia or a Flaminia.

mickthemaverick wrote: 17 Aug 2021, 21:18 I know the feelings about Clarkson are mixed on here but I thought I'd mention this anyway! I am a fan and I have just binge watched the whole of his Amazon Prime series "Clarkson's Farm". It tells the story of his first year as a farmer from September 2019 to September 2020 and SWMBO and I both found it amusing and informative. Make what you will of it!! :)
..and a thumbs up for Clarkson's Farm from me too.

I've just done the same over a couple of days...after being signed up for a month to amazon prime to watch the autumn rugby internationals.

Really enjoyed it, and on todays trip out very much noticed the tram lines in the fields next to the roads :-D
Prime arable land in Oxfordshire must have an enormous capital value, but growing crops generates a really paltry income per acre, with enormous cost inputs, and very much subject to the vagries of the weather, pests and diseases. The pre-subsidy bottom line at the end of the year was sobering indeed.

That should suit James!

I liked Clarkson's travels in Europe and even more his Arctic Convoy program. Complete change in his approach, not at al TG-like. Serious journalism.
Haven't seen all the farm ones but those I have were excellent.

It would, if I had Amazon Prime. I don't, because I have Freeview, and I don't think Jeff Bezos needs any more money!

If you haven't seen it Steve it's well worth seeking out his documentary on Brunel which he made for the Greatest Briton series a few years ago, another excellent job I think!! :)
Parts of it are on Youtube but for some reason there is no part 1 with audio although others have tried recording over it but it doesn't work for me!!:

The only reason he 'lost' was because Mo Mowlam was championing Winston Churchill. Second place was the best any of the other 'champions' could hope for against THAT combination.

I'm on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal now on "Travels by Narrowboat" (Amazon Prime Video). Absolutely fantastic engineering achievement, building canals through the Pennines...madness, but still thankfully preserved and enjoyed today :-D. Has something in common with Hinkley Point C...5 times over budget when it was built :-D (Maybe the 46 years to build may yet prove a similarity too!)
