Hello,
My first time encounter with this website, looks very informative in the future.
I have a very basic question that`s probably been answered elsewhere but I cannot fathom it.
How do I post a question about judging the accurate oil level on my cars dipstick please?
The stick is a weird twisty pigs tail that is impossible to gain an accurate reading.
Is there an alternative dipstick that will fit & gives clear readings?
Thanks if you can advise.

There should be a couple of 'nicks' at the bottom of the dipstick. These are the 'min' and 'max' marks. This one on Amazon shows the 'nicks';

Thank you, however, the stick itself is twisted in such a way that dipping into the engine to gain a reading is impossible as it twists & turns when extracted. Is the stick supposed to be spring-like & not straight?, it`s a bit odd.

It is meant to be twisted. I believe it is to make sure it remains in place. As you can see (from the Amazon page I posted up) that dipstick is also twisted and flexible. As the oil will be quite 'thick' it does stick to the dipstick, so it is an accurate indicator.

Actually - is the dipstick intact?
They have a propensity to fall to bits and dump the measuring bit in the sump.

You are :welc:

Don't be afraid to ask any questions. This forum was formed to help French car owners deal with any problems they may encounter. There are also other sections where members can chat, share opinions and crack a few jokes, so do feel free to browse. However, if you need to ask for some information that is only available from the PSA group you might be asked to pay a small donation (£10, I believe), as the Forum is charged for this access. The donation would cover you for up to two years of searches.
