It was some time ago since I did it Chris but I think I was using the car as a daily driver at the time and I left it in about a week.
Just read another article today elsewhere and it recommends also using vinegar but states a day or so, so maybe, that wasn't really the cause of the problems.
The heater matrix blockage didn't really clear. I still have the old matrix and it is horrendous. I put water in it and shake it and it was comes out dark reddish brown. It's a real serious cause of deposits from the engine having settled and solidified in there. When you trickle water into one pipe, it takes about 10 seconds for the water level in the other pipe to reach equilibrium!!!
Now considering whether to use some Wynn's Extreme Coolant Degreaser in there today followed by a flush with distilled water and then Wynn's Coolant Flush as I just daren't tempt fate again with vinegar and a multi-layer head gasket...

Wynn's should be good.
I've used LiquiMoly Radiator Cleaner (Kühler-reiniger) #2506. 1 x 300ml can enough for one vehicle. It is a degreaser, sediment and calc remover.

Decided to just flush with Wynns professional formula. Not bothered with the degreaser.
Engine now cooling awaiting drain, flush with deionised and refill.
