DS5 2013 headlight woes
Evening
Posting for a friend but I’ll be fixing it no doubt
2013 ds5
Has the adaptive headlights- however they are not operating correctly.
They are, in the nicest possible way, walleyed. They appear to be both pointing outwards left and right of the car. Not front.
Main beam is good. Headlight adjustment by the switch doesn’t do anything to levelling etc
Any pointers?
Thanks in advance
Stuart

Re: DS5 2013 headlight woes
There were at least 3 types of headlamps on the DS5 - Halogen, Discharge, Discharge with LED. The directional lighting on discharge lamps will have body height correctors to inform the headlamp correction unit for correction, so there shouldn't be any need to change anything unless the lamps have been replaced with the wrong type, or the correction unit or lamp fitting is faulty.

Re: DS5 2013 headlight woes
Worth checking the body height correctors?
Assume they are linked to the suspension?

Re: DS5 2013 headlight woes
No not linked to the suspension Stuart. The DS5 has standard springs and struts, Hydractive was never fitted to the DS5. The body height sensors are only fitted for the vehicles with directional lighting.
In either case, the height correctors just send vertical positional data to the correction unit, they are not responsible for the lateral movement of the lamps. That is done via the steering wheel angle sensor.
Pop the VIN up (automasked on post submission) when you can so I can see what vehicle we are talking about.

Re: DS5 2013 headlight woes
I wonder what would happen if the steering was turned from lock to lock with the lights on? Might it then re-calibrate the headlights?

Re: DS5 2013 headlight woes
Ok, well that makes it somewhat simpler!
This model has standard halogens, so no directional lighting Stuart. In which case I suspect the halogen bulb may have been replaced incorrectly which can lead to 'Marty Feldman' syndrome.
Check those out first - remove and replace, then I would get a garage to check the beam alignment and adjust the headlamps using the lever.

Re: DS5 2013 headlight woes
Ok, so first thing I need to mention, is that the vehicle is showing as outstanding on an after sales recall! I’d advise your mate to book it in with Citroen ASAP. It won’t cost anything and I can’t specify exactly what it is, but I wouldn't hang about.
Back to the light, on the halogen model, it doesn’t look to be a lever as such, but there are usually some beam adjustment screws in the lamp housing that are used for fine tuning.
