Hi All,
Has anyone fitted these ball joints to C5 x7, my needs to be replaced for the MOT along with the lower pivot bush.
I have the citroen procedure printed off but no info re alignment. Is that because the joint rotates around the needle bearings when free from the Suspension support.
I hoping to get it done over the weekend.
Any tips and advise please.
Kenny

Re: Front lower ball joints
That's interesting, it has a similar arrangement to the CX, the pivot point being at the centre of the wheel, that would account for the excellent directional stability of the C5.

That's a misspelling I've not seen before. A Citroen C5!

Re: Front lower ball joints
Well job done over the weekend , no problems and relatively easy considering it's a citroen.
Did the lower ball joint and when removed the needle bearings fell all rusted.
Also did the lower pivot bushes on both sides f/o/s was okay but the f/n/s was shot.
The good news is the knocking I've been chase for at least a year has been solved.
Next the MOT pass in a couple of days.

The knocking you refer to - was it sort of random and usually on the "up" stroke of a reasonable bump or pothole? We too have a knocking in the front end of our 2009 C5 and as it's the car my wife prefers and drives most I'm under pressure to find and resolve.

Re: Front lower ball joints
Craig,
while we wait for Kenny's thoughts, I'll pitch in with mine.
The three things to check on the C5 X7 (which just happen to be the same as the C6) are:
1, the bottom bush (which can be seen in the video above)
2, the ARB drop link
3, the lower joint as Kenny replaced above
I would replace the 1 as a matter of course if doing 3 as they're easy (with the right bush tool), cheap and likely to fail more often.
The bottom bush may look ok but moves around under the weight of the car and IMHO should be changed every 50k miles or so.
