The squealing means that the deadlines have probably been set about right.
Expect squealing, and ignore it. These companies need to be told what to do, and by when.
If they can't adapt, then someone else will.

Great news, part of the window dressing for COP26 will be that the Taxi work for delegates will be carried out in that British as Bollywood marque Jaguar Land Rover.

I guess most of them will be the British as Apfel Strudel Jaguar I-Paces made in Austria.

Great showcase for the British EV manufacturing industry. It would have been more appropriate to use Nissan Leafs, or even Electric Mini's before the move to China.

If they wanted to showcase JLR's Uk Manufacturing they should have just used what they produce in the UK, and had a few exhaust pipes on display, and a fleet of their UK produced gas guzzlers.

Made in Austria

The Blue Oval Rises, not in the UK of course but some may remember their historic activity in the UK and models like the Ford Cortina, and Ford Capri and the Ford Escort and the former backbone of Britain now the backbone of Turkey the Ford Transit.

Slow to the electrification game, and spearheading currently their new-found transition with their all-new Ford F-150 Lightning truck, E-Transit and Mustang Mach-E electric vehicles. Ford going with the flow, although doing nothing for mass adoption with those particular vehicles.

Their media centre arent much good at coming up with snappy headlines

Here we go.

How long before we have a few Chinese Companies manufacturing cars in Europe, other than the ones who have already bought some of the European brands eg Geely with their Volvo/Lotus/LEVC etc.

Is it a good thing to have an auto industry manufacturing/assembling vehicles in your own back yard :?:

China did, but very cleverly insisted when they set out, that all vehicles made and sold in China would have to have a 50/50 partnership with a Chinese partner. You have to say every European and US manufacturer keen to sell cars in a huge market, did form these 50/50 ventures and set up factories in China.

The boot surely has to be on the other foot now, with a similar if you want to sell cars in our market, you make them in our market.

Its a competitive world UK, our car industry is controlled by overseas investors, and seeing Barcelona cosying up to the likes of Great Wall, should be an alarm call. The merchant adventurers need to be out there bringing business to the UK, out competing the likes of Barcelona. Great Wall are the makers of the "Good Cat", a very impressive and disruptively priced EV highlighted a few times elsewhere on the forum. Just the type of car that needs to be manufactured in the UK, once it starts getting serious and takes the gloves off :-D

They are just in talks....go and offer them something better...offer up the vacated Honda site at Swindon on a silver platter and make something happen :-D

Great Wall Motors in talks to take over Nissan’s plant in Barcelona

Honda Press Release today.

All new models Honda will introduce in China after 2030 will be electrified, such as hybrid (HEVs) and EVs.

Beginning to fall into line with this announcement of its ambitions in the Chinese market and subsequent export possibilities. It has a couple of 50/50 partnerships Dongfeng Honda and GAC Honda.

Meanwhile in Europe the lonely Honda-e is the only EV Honda have on offer. Mind it does look a little cuter than this little lot of concepts included in the press briefing...

I can see those sort of things working well in cities. Just need to clear out some designated routes to make things work.

Presumably, to go with the next generation of autonomous passenger shuttles, the next generation of protester will clog up the roads merely by standing in front them so they won't move forward ? 8-[
