Citroen C5 Hydraulic Pipes

Unread post by Annmarie »

I have a 57 plate Citroen C5 diesel estate. The garage says it needs hydraulic suspension pipes replaced, but I need to go to a specialist garage because of the tools needed. There is a garage local to me that can do it, but not til next week and so I was wondering, does anyone know roughly how much these things will cost to replace, ballpark? I don't want to waste anyone's time waiting if it's not going to be worth doing :?

I think 'Which pipes?' will be the next question, there are a lot of them.

Hi, and :welc: to the Forum. If it is possible, could you upload any pictures of the pipes in question? You can do this by clicking on the "Full Editor & Preview" button, then on the "Attachments" tab, then the "Add files" button, followed by the pictures themselves. That way it will help to determine which pipes need to be replaced, how much they are, and what work would be involved.

Thank you guys, I have no idea which pipes I'm afraid. The car is currently at a different garage, it needs various work done including brakes all round, CV boot and joint, a few other bits and pieces, plus an MOT. The garage is quoting around £750 for all the other work and MOT which isn't a problem, but if the hydraulics are going to be out of my reach then there's no point in spending any money on it at all. Do you think my best bet is to get the MOT done and find out exactly which pipes need replaced?

Better to have them specify which pipes and quote a price for the work before spending money on an MOT that may be worthless - also if the pipes are not replaced it won't pass an MOT anyway as failure of the suspension system is potentially dangerous.

Yes, you do need to identify the correct pipes as a matter of some urgency, as depending on which ones they are, they may not actually be available anymore! A significant number of suspension pipes are no longer available from Citroen on this C5 model and earlier now, so I would think this needs to be looked at first before spending out on other work, as there will be little point in the other repairs if you can't get the suspension pipes.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Isn't one of our regulars up in Fife? Maybe he could be persuaded to have a look. :)
