Exactly. We often face slight hiccups in supplies and just get on with it and we don't then run around like headless chickens trying to fill our chamber pots with petrol to store under our beds along with the toilet rolls. God help us when the the world and his dog can't get enough Christmas turkeys. Mind you, all the summer furniture that was held up in the Suez Canal will make for different Xmas pressies!

I had to go to my ByBox this morning (06:30). Both BP stations on my route were closed (no fuel), while the Shell had queues out onto the road.

Our local Citroen dealer has a petrol station, the storeman tells me that the town was blocked by queuing motorists for hours but he had to laugh when the attendant told him that one guy had queued for over an hour to top up then only had room for £1.06 worth in his tank.

...which is where - with plenty of advance warning - the £30 min purchase comes in

Definitely evidence for introducing a minimum charge of say £30 for cars and £12ish for bikes and it will cost that however much you actually put in!! :)

I have been panic buying again.
First one I went to had a bowser sitting there so presumed there would be fuel.
Coned off but one car at the pumps, normal when they have a delivery.
Got out to go to the shop and there was a large "No Fuel" there :( invisible from the road.
Managed to get £35.05 worth (£35 limit - Ooops) so almost full now but half of that will be used tomorrow going to hospital and ferrying grandson around.

SWMBO has just advised me that someone has died from his injuries in a petrol pump brawl. Tragic, and I feel for the family, let's hope some good comes from it and people begin to be sensible! :)

I was out early this morning (MOT on my wife's car at 8:00am) and I noticed a lot less queuing and closed forecourts. So maybe it's past its worst, at least locally to us.

Thanks for posting that Steve, it would appear that SWMBO hadn't read the full story as they say it was not to do with the crisis so I had drawn an inaccurate conclusion!! Still feel for the family though!!

There's a video of someone wielding a knife in a petrol station that appears to be related to fuel shortages though.

.. and a barney broke out with a bloke jumping the queue at one petrol station - he was refused service as he jumped into a reserved slot and the cashier refused to authorise the pump. Nearly came to blows.

I have been using filling stations for a long time now and have yet to witness any argy-bargy in one.
Seen some nitwits blocking the airlines etc in the local CoOp one while they shop for s**t - there are plenty of parking spaces but that means walking 100'.
I don't go there any more but there were no altercations that I ever saw.

Remember the banner headlines the Sun used on occasions, I think all the newspapers should put one up this week saying, "HA HA HA! Gotcha! we were only winding you up."

On a happier note, Scottish Fuel supplies are apparently returning to normal quicker because the supply routes from Grangemouth to the Central Belt are shorter than the average in England and Wales. Try telling the people in Ullapool and beyond that. And as for courier deliveries north of the Central Belt!!!!!
