Glitching audio cable and installing aux/usb

Post by dexito »

Hello,

I have a C5 tourer 2008 and some issues with my radio. Firstly, there seems to be a issues with the cables connected to the radio which results in the right speakers doesn’t play. The funny part is that the right speakers can suddenly start to play for a couple of seconds. If I bring out the radio and put the right pressure on the cables, I can make right speakers to play. Do you have any idea what I can try to fix this issue?

Secondly, I’d love to be able to play music from my phone but I realised it isn’t as easy to change the radio as in my last car. I’ve seen indications that I could install a aux/usb cable, is this the case? If so: which parts would you recommend? I have a FM broadcaster at the moment, but there seems to be a issue with the antenna cause the sound is very “crackling”.

As you can tell, I’m not a car person and I bet these questions has been asked many times but I cant locate them. Thankful for any help!

What system do you currently have? Pop your VIN up if not sure. For a 2008 I suspect you'll have the standard RD4 if you don't have a navigation system.

Once I know I can advise you. It's possible regarding the speaker that the quad lock cable connection may be strained or the speaker wire has been strained form the back of the connector.

For standard RD4 units, you can connect something like a Yatour box that will use the CD changer port to mimic a CD changer. This will allow you to plug a USB key in with MP3 files that you can play for example. They are available with different options.

I’m out of town and unable to locate the VIN number, but I’m pretty sure I have the standard RD4. I see, the Yatour box sounds like the perfect solution.

Ok, so something to consider like that then - there are various similar systems on the market that will allow you to do this. Amazon is full of them.

Is the issue with both right speakers or just the front right? if its just the one the first place i would look is in the rubber sleeve where it goes from the body to the door, check for damaged wires making & breaking contact.

Nope it’s both right speakers. Makes me think there’s either some issue with the radio’s contact or the cable/cablecube itself
