Re: P1718 code
Hi and welcome. This fault is to do with the gear selection control or an electrical issue with it:
So has any work been done lately that could have impacted on the electrical connections of the gearbox selection controls or any wiring modifications or aftermarket equipment added?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'Drive Sensors' - can you explain what these are....

The drive sensors are located under the front wheels

Re: P1718 code
Ok, some terminology confusion - I think you are referring to the wheel speed sensors used by the ABS / ESP system for various functions - including supplying the piloted gearbox with information.
I would check that any connections have not been disturbed on the piloted gearbox ECU as these could easily have been moved during the recent work on the wheel speed sensors - but obviously some further investigation is needed. The first checks should always be the electrical plugs and connections on the piloted gearbox ECU and earths.

Re: P1718 code
Hi Marc
I have the P1718 selector lever (of doom) error.
I am reluctant to take the car (C4GP 2007) to any garage which doesn't have specific knowledge of this fault.
Could you suggest anyone? I am prepared to travel ANYWHERE in the UK.

Re: P1718 code
Hi Harold, I've already put up the code error fault descriptor as you have probably seen. So short of this, that will be what the dealer sees and will investigate the suggested areas. These piloted systems can be hard to troubleshoot given the nature of the system, so my suggestion would be to save travelling and time wasting by getting it to Citroen as it may save time and money in the long run.

Re: P1718 code
Hi Marc
I removed the selector lever from the steering column, and the solder joints on the PCB for the lever sensors look iffy. The gearbox is working correctly at the moment.
I am going to suck the original solder, and re-solder.
I'll keep you informed.
The replacement selector is a Delphi part number 96811352XT. Costs about £550 !!!!! However, a Chinese part is available for £150.
From reading various forums about which selection by the lever does, or does not work, I am inclined to think that the solder joint breakdown of the sensors maybe the culprit.
Best

Re: P1718 code
That's mostly all these problems will ever be - electronics on the board like the chips, the soldering or the the actual physical parts of the switches that sweep across wearing out.
Best of luck, let us know if that's successful.

Hi Marc
Obviously a very well known problem in France. The company below does a refurb exchange for 49 euros !!
https://www.alsace-electronique-auto.fr ... troen.html
Also, France Auto in Poland sells the genuine Delphi part for 155 euros. It's not worth buying a used part. Citroen UK are taking the p155 @ £550.
