Buying Diagnostic Kit

Post by TepeeNoExpert »

Hi all,

I've just purchased a 15 plate Peugeot Expert Tepee and am looking to buy some diagnostic kit for it, however, on Aliexpress I see two versions - the older multi cable grey box or the new lime green single cable box, which would you recommend? Below are the titles from each product on Ali, I haven't put links as I'm not sure if that is allowed here.

Grey version: Lexia 3 PP2000 Diagbox V7.83/V9.91 Full Chip 921815C Diagnostic Tool

Green version: NEW AER LEXIA 3 Diagbox V7.83 921815C Firmware Full Chip v9.68/v9.91

I would stick with a UK supplier that provides backup support. Your vehicle is on the cusp of the change from Diagbox V7.** to the new V9. So depending on what model you have and what technology (SCR System with Adblue for a Diesel for example), you may not get communication with all the ECUs - and this will depend on the specifics of the vehicle.

Version 9 of the software is compatible with later vehicles, but has limited functionality (i.e. code reading only for most) and little to no parameter coding. So depends on what you want it for.

Have a chat with Easydiagnostics if you want some detailed advice.

Thanks Marc. I think my vehicle must be based on earlier tech as I have no adblue, stop/start etc. Not wanting to sound ungrateful for your good advice but I think I will chance one of the earlier model diagnostic boxes from Ali and see how it goes as I have a ELM 327 adaptor from them that's still going strong, plus they've just started their site-wide sale so prices are keen.

Ok, no problem - but be aware some of the cheaper kits don't have all the hardware components on the boards, so often won't talk to newer vehicles. Best of luck.

Just my 2cc.

I'm more than happy with Thinkdiag. Got Alexia full chip, but for what I need Thinkdiag is more than sufficient.
