Re: RD45 install - can't update VIN / no communication
Both the MFD and the RD45 have options for interfacing with the parking sensor ECU for the purposes of displaying the diagram and sounding the reversing beeps. If the car doesn't have the reversing sensors ECU then it must be turned off in the MFD and Radio ECU too as they will be expecting data that never arrives.

Re: RD45 install - can't update VIN / no communication
Thanks Marc.
The MFD has been setup and coded correctly, is fully working and happy with the car.
I had more of a play with it today and was pleased to notice that the MFD was down to three pictorial options in the menu, where before there were four but one was dim and crossed out (I am presuming that was the parking assistance that I have now taken out of the settings).
Setting up the RD45 is the problem.
Hopefully I have a kind person on here that's agreed to try and code it for me using their X7, next time I have access to the car
Had more of a play with it today when I gave the car back (until I get it back for finishing some things).
It recognised when her iphone was plugged in and the 3.5mm jack symbol changed to an iphone symbol. Played tunes from the phone just fine, but strangely sometimes it displayed the wrong track name/artist (not the one that it was actually playing!)
Incidentally, I couldn't find an option to set up the bluetooth? (albeit I didn't have long to play with it)

Ah hang on...
Maybe I am under a misconception... I was thinking that it would have bluetooth built in (for streaming) as standard and all you needed to add for bluetooth hands free calling, was a microphone.
Is that not correct?
Does it instead not have bluetooth for anything, unless it has an adapter?

All of the Bluetooth hardware is inside of an RD45. Have you enabled the 'Nomade' option on your MFD as that is needed to show the Bluetooth menu.

Re: RD45 install - can't update VIN / no communication
Is it possible to trick diagbox by saying the vehicle is a newer model so it doesn't open Lexia and then hopefully just talk to the radio on Diagbox to change the VIN?

Re: RD45 install - can't update VIN / no communication
Not really - it's designed that way to be able to talk to the older equipment / BSI in older cars. As soon as you connect it up and it has identified the relevant vehicle from the VIN it will launch Lexia if appropriate.

Re: RD45 install - can't update VIN / no communication
Hi Marc. This morning I tried it again. I lauched diagbox and told it I had a DS3. It asked for the VIN. After putting it the VIN from the C3 it then gave me a choice of opening Diagbox or Lexia. I chose Diagbox. It went through the communication screen and could not talk to most of the ecus but could talk to the radio. I selected the radio and was able to configure it. I changed the VIN and the beeping stopped. I exited out of Diagbox and unplugged the laptop from the car. I switched the ignition back on and the car and radio are working perfectly.

A good result is a good result regardless of the barmy way you got it. Well done.

Well done on that part then. Useful to know a bit of skulduggery has worked.
