Hello,
Can someone recommend a seller for rear suspension spheres for Xantia 1.8 16v, 1998. ?
Do you know what is the part number?
Is this what I am looking for? https://www.aepdirect.com/suspension-sp ... ory_id=747
What does it mean "(Estate Without Hydractive Suspension)"?
Thanks,
Zeljko

Re: Xantia rear suspension spheres
The xantia could have hydractive or non-hydractive suspension. Look to see if you have a sphere at the rear of the car in the middle between the 2 rear wheels. If not, you don't have hydractive version of the suspension. The sphere pressures vary between models and saloons or estates.
Pop your VIN up and I'll let you know if you do or not.

I have used AEP Direct in the past, and would use them again if needed. One thing they will ask you for is the vehicle registration, so they can try to check that the parts you are ordering are right for that vehicle, so if you do place an order with them add the reg to the notes, to minimise any delays.

Thanks, chassis number is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
I've contacted AEP Direct and they no longer sell to Croatia. They don't even ship to Ireland (my brother lives there) if not a company.
Do you know any other seller?

Re: Xantia rear suspension spheres
That is a shame (probably due to Brexit).
When you do get replacement spheres, be aware that the old ones may be very tight and difficult to remove (I genuinely have had to use a hammer and chisel to start them turning in the past). Once the new ones are fitted, try to loosen them off and then hand tighten them every six months or so. That way it should be simple to replace them when you have to do so.
Make certain to support the Xantia properly when you are working on the suspension. If something were to go wrong the suspension can drop very quickly, and people have been killed through not taking proper precautions.

Re: Xantia rear suspension spheres
Try Mister Auto (owned by PSA/Stellantis), who operate across Europe.
Autodoc is another option.
Rear (corner/wheel) spheres must be slackened off (by about a quarter of a turn) with the suspension set on Highest. This is to clamp the hydraulic ram firmly in its mountings, and prevent it twisting and damaging the pipework.

Re: Xantia rear suspension spheres
So you don't have Hydractive suspension on your vehicle, so the corner sphere pressures you need are:
Front Corner Sphere
400CM3 55BARS
For Temperate to Cold Countries
Or:
450CM3 50 BARS
For Very Cold Countries or Hot Countries
Rear Corner Spheres:
400CM3 30 BARS
For Extremely Cold Countries to Hot Countries (and everything in between).

Re: Xantia rear suspension spheres
i would recommend autodoc but as an alternative if you have an official citroen supplier or workshop in your your country, you can ask for eurorepar sphere. i recently bought a pair for my xantia and they were 50 euros each in Portugal. they are made by ifhs for psa based eurorepar brand.

Re: Xantia rear suspension spheres
Just been quoted this morning €60.49 + tax for a 400cc Eurorepar sphere by Citroen, and have ordered a pair (BX rears). €84.86 + tax for the Citroen version.
Interesting that Mister Auto lists a Febi sphere (for the same application) for just over half the Euro' price. Wonder who makes theirs? Febi Bilstein have a reasonable reputation in the spares market.

Re: Xantia rear suspension spheres
my Citroen dealer offered me 27 percent discount over the listed eurorepar and citroen prices. maybe there is room to negotiate a discount which they usually give to mechanics!white exec wrote: ↑11 Aug 2021, 21:07 Just been quoted this morning €60.49 + tax for a 400cc Eurorepar sphere by Citroen, and have ordered a pair (BX rears). €84.86 + tax for the Citroen version.
