Minor forum update 8/8/21
I have updated the "style" component of the forum software. There should be practically no visible change as a result of this, but it is a prerequisite to a larger upgrade that I will be doing in a few weeks time.
If you notice any new issues with the display of forum pages, or the action of links, please let me know here.

I fixed it here. You should not need to clear your cache or anything else.
I carefully merged all of our customisations into the new version of the style, but forgot to overwrite the stock header image (it gets me every time).

Seamless for me Mike with Opera on Windows 10.

Re: Minor forum update 8/8/21
I wondered why the Forum was down when I tried to connect this morning. Now I know why. It seems to be working properly for me (Edge and Windows 10).

Back to normal on Firefox - using Chromium currently.
As I started out with Firefox, it wasn't cookies as all are cleared as I shut the browsers down and the HD was swept with Bleachbit before closing.

Well I probably needed to clear out my cache and all the cookies anyway - so a good excuse to do it It's actually amazing how much browsing data was being stored for each browser on my iPhone and iPad as it goes, so got shot of all that too.

Re: Minor forum update 8/8/21
One change I have just noticed for me, and unlikely for anyone else, is the ability to re-edit previous posts seems to have a time limit on it. So on the whatsthisthen? thread, back to about 29th July the edit icon appears against my posts, prior to that the edit icon disappears.
Occasionally I find being able to tweak a thread title which I have started is useful. Determined by post 1 page 1's title on any thread you have started. No edit icon on those posts.
Occasionally others will amend their blog titles too, as new vehicles are acquired eg Zel when he added his new merc acquistition.
Not an important thing to restore, although I did think about adding 3-D printing to a thread covering things like carbon fibre, and other composite materials which are loosely connected to new materials being used and developed in all aspects of the automotive and every other sector of industry.
Like I say not a problem which requires solving, and an easy work around but a change I noticed today.

Re: Minor forum update 8/8/21
Hi Neil.
The reason for this is because we have had a few members who have joined - made lots of posts and then left; but before leaving they felt it necessary to go back to all their posts and delete all their content filling it with gibberish, making the thread totally useless to everyone else. That's the reason there is a reasonable limit for editing.
If there are specific amendments you would like to make on a thread, just PM me with the link and correction - and I will happily do this for you.

Thanks Marc, that covers all my infrequent needs nicely, and the approach to editing in general is the right one, and reasonable.GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑11 Aug 2021, 10:11 If there are specific amendments you would like to make on a thread, just PM me with the link and correction - and I will happily do this for you.

Re: Minor forum update 8/8/21
I don't know what has caused it, but the Forum has done something odd. In the past, I could click on "Unread posts" and it would show me a list of all the posts I had not read (I had a group of several from the same member of Forum staff to act as a 'bookmark'). Now that is no longer happening; clicking on "Unread posts" is only showing posts that have changed/been added today. My 'bookmark' no longer comes into view.
