Hi,
Re Xsara Picasso 1.6DOHC petrol, the engine / BSM fuse box under the bonnet.
Fuse layout is not the same as in either of the owners handbooks I have.
Are there pics somewhere on the Forum of the different layouts and fuse number decodes?
On mine fuse 15 is missing, does that matter as everything (except the aircon, which I don't use anyway) is working fine?
Ciao, Captain K
PS: This is NOT the red Xsara that I had all the ECM problems with - that one has gone to the crusher in the sky!

Re: Xsara Picasso Engine Fuse layout
Dont have any diagrams to hand but it’s fairly normal to have some vacant fuse positions, it may be for something thats not fitted to your car or maybe for the petrol model etc.

Re: Xsara Picasso Engine Fuse layout
Hi Wheeler,
OK, thanks ... agreed!
Fuse 15 just looked newly removed ...
I recently had cam / auxilliary belts / water pump changed and wanted to check if garage had not put that fuse back.
The car is new 2nd hand to me, so no idea if aircon ever worked.
The compressor drive clutch is not engaging so I that it might be because of that fuse.

Re: Xsara Picasso Engine Fuse layout
Cant think why a garage would have been anywhere near the fusebox to do any of that work.
If the A/C system is low on gas pressure the compressor wont engage to stop it wrecking the compressor.

Xsara Picasso Engine Fuse - Aircon not working
Thanks, I also meant to say I had checked compressor connector, which was OK.
Any DIY way of checking aircon gas levels?
I assume not ...
I've seen DIY top-up cannisters that you attach to the valves behind the engine, but was unsure if that was just asking for more trouble ...

Re: Xsara Picasso Engine Fuse layout
Not really a DIY thing, you dont ‘top up’ A/C either. You evacuate the system, vaccum it to boil off moisture, check the system for leaks then refill with the correct weight of refrigerant and add oil if required.

Re: Xsara Picasso Engine Fuse layout
I'd also avoid those DIY re-gassing cans - the cheap gauges the kits are often supplied with are pretty useless and can risk over filling the system and causing more problems.
To be honest, I would suggest either a mobile A/C service or get it to a place that will get it 10% colder or no charge like Kwik Fit, who have the correct equipment for properly servicing the system.
I just had the C3 done before we sold it - came to the house, checked for leaks using a sniffer, vacuumed out everything, test filled it checked the valves and ports / seals for leaks and in the car - all clear, then cleaned out the system with an anti-bacterial treatment and refilled the system with refrigerant and oil. All-in £70! Perfectly cold after that.

Xsara Picasso Engine Fuse layout - aircon doesn't
Hi, Sorry for slow acknowledgement ...
Have ignored the issue for now and learning to like 30 degrees ...
But will do the KwikFit thing, sounds good.
