Squeaky suspension

Post by discarnet »

Hi after a little advice on a citroen c5 estate 2006 2.0l estate with 126k on clock
For a while it has had a loud squeak/ groan comming from the rear, unable to pinpoint what side but possibly both sides , it happens when driving but also when stationary, simply sitting in the vehicle makes it squeak.
No clonking and ride and handling don't seem to be effected, wheels don't look like they are inclined
Does anyone have any ideas on where to start looking

I would get the rear arm bearings checked (and probably replaced). The age and mileage would point to these wearing out. If you leave them too long it can cause other issues (mainly the related holes becoming misshapen).

Oh, and :welc: to the forum.

Thanks ,
Had it checked and it does seem the bearings are shot, N/S wheel was actually quiet badly tilted
But can't seem to find a supplier for the spares any ideas?

This is the sort of thing you might need (this is the kit for ONE trailing arm, so you will need to get a pair). I cannot tell you how easy/difficult it is to replace them, as I have not done it myself (I got a specialist to do them).

Didn't think of ebay,
Found a pair for £60 so ordered them, probably get a local mechanic to fit them, while I probably could do it I'm not sure I have the tools time or enthusiasm lol
