University Challenge; I knew where all three of the Universities were (although I admit I got the name of the last one wrong; I said Guildford University, whereas it was actually the University of Surrey), while the contestants didn't know where ANY of them were (and thought Guildford was Exeter!!!).

Having already 101'ed "lack of knowledge about the geography and history of Great Britain" from previous series, that question and their answers made me smile! Just a shame it didn't produce the exasperated Paxman NO!, that would have been the icing on the cake. :-D

I suppose I had a bit of an unfair advantage. I went through Bath on Friday, and Guildford earlier this month. I also used to work for a DSP manufacturers in the past; LSI (Loughborough Sound Images, now known as Blue Wave Systems).

There was a battered 2cv + tent at the road side on yesterday’s Tour de France stage (July 13th).

They kept up their record, cream of St Hilda's Oxford hadn't a clue about British Geography, 0 out of 3 while the cream of Northumberland armchairs got 3/3.

No no no no! They have only gone and done it again. Tonight's British Geography howler was from Hertford College Oxford, and I am afraid to say the answerer came from Northumberland.

Her answer which Paxman cut her off with was "Tyne", Yes about as accurate as Roger Whittaker :-D

the question..I will Paraphrase.
Starter question..Two parts to the answer from the descriptions given, one is an anagram of the other
One is the name for the area covering the upper reaches of the River that flows through the City of Durham, the other is one of the States of the United States of America.

Of course! Weardale and Delaware.

The River is spelt Wear, but not pronounced like the Hertfordshire Town. :-D
