C4 Picasso electric seat jammed in position

Post by nicolla »

Hi there friends,

So, as the subject says, my passenger electric seat got stuck in a position and I can't move it back or forward no matter what.
It's C4 Picasso from 2007, exclusive spec. When pressing the arrow button on the seat side i can clearly hear the click, and I can obviously see the contraction of the 2 'pipes' under the seat connected with the motor, but nothing moves. Any suggestion can maybe help me. Is there a way to manually move the seat or adjust it somehow? Maybe something is stuck in rail and it just needs a bit of push to move out of the way.

Please help friends :)

I would check the 'rails' first. I recall somebody on the forum had a problem with an electric seat on their car, and it turned out a pencil was in the rail blocking the seat from moving.

We had pencils in the runner of the (manual) seats in our Picassos (both Mk1 and 2!!). Was a PITA to get them out again!!

from my visual inspection i can't see anything, seems like there is no space for anything to drop in. do I need to remove the seats to check the rails?
the seat is in good and usable position at the moment, but from time to time I need to move it and I'd like to sort that out.

so, what do you think, if I hear the click, and the motor contracts, then it's probably alive lol :D I can't find online any diagram of the construction of the movement motor so I can check if there are any rotating things in there which can fail

I cannot personally offer you any more advice, as I have not experienced the problem myself. The advice I did offer was based on the experience of a different forum member. I don't know what they did to locate or remove the pencil. Sorry I cannot give you any more than that.

Thanks anyway mate. We'll see. I'll probably take it to mechanic so they can have a look before I do the damage lol

Well, I actually fixed it myself by accident before breaking it apart :D
And I was thinking about taking it to mechanic tomorrow and just disassembling it to find out what's the problem

What was the solution? There is probably some kind of 'locking system' in the seats I didn't know about.
I just pressed the forward direction arrow twice fast and the seat immediately started moving. :S
