Central locking works but when press to open doors the boot also unlocks any ideas on why it's doing this please

This is normally caused by the tailgate release microswitch jammed in, once you have opened it does the boot lid then open & close as normal?

Long time separated, I know, but XM had the option of whether the boot lock was operated by the central locking, or not.
This could allow the boot to remain locked while the car was being driven (or in standstill traffic), even though the doors were not locked.
The choice was made by the way the key was turned before removing it from the boot lock. Details in the owner's handbook.
May not be relevant to C2, or might be an electronic choice.

Yes once it's open I have to close it but locks fine but do have problem with the micro switch handle takes its time to work some times thanks for that answer was swaying towards new switch this has just helped me make my mind up

can anyone shed some light on my power steering working intermitantly also there is quite a bit of play in steering column reading up on it there are a couple of options possible module fault or power steering motor track rod ends are fine no play in those so am wondering do i replace rack just to be sure or do all the lot
