Door Handle

Post by zipdip »

Hi all
ok so my passenger front door handle is not working on my DS5 put you hand on it and it does not unlock the car,all the other door handles work and also if you put your finger on the marks on the passenger door it will not lock the car all the other handles will lock the car if I do that, any ideas of what I can do about this,I am miles from a main dealer there is a garage about 10 miles away that used to be a citroen garage,I was hoping that maybe I could sort it with a friends snap on code reader.
Thank is advance

It will likely be either a new door handle module for the passenger side, or - check the wiring first between the door hinge area. There is a rubber sleeve to protect the wiring, which you can remove to check the wiring loom for breaks. As the door is opened and closed, it can over time weaken the wiring in this area leading to breaks and then you will get issues with windows or locking or mirrors not working.

This will be your cheapest option, then get it diagnosed with a proper diagnostic tool, but with these sorts of things, you may be better booking it in with a dealer who has the correct tools inn the first place rather than chance it to a garage that may not have the experience of diagnosing these systems - but you will know that better than I will.

Not that simple as there are multiple internal components to these. There is the handle with the connections to the inner part, then there is the actual locking mechanism in the door, so I couldn't tell you what's involved with these and which part would likely be faulty - so investigation is essential first off. If it's a broken wire - problem solved.

Well I will try to get it looked at,the weird thing is if I open my locked car by the drivers door then the front passenger door with the defective handle does not open, but if I open the car by the nearside rear door then the front passenger door will open, will see if my local mechanic wants to try and fix it,if not I will have to use the garage that used to be a citroen small dealer.

Then that very likely is a wiring connection - so it's easy enough to check the wires inside the grommet - just take it off and look at the loom containing all the wiring at this weak point in the bend.
