Tyre pressure sensor going off every 10 mins

Post by Romtag »

Hiya all,

The front right tyre pressure sensor keeps going off. From what I can tell this is a very common issue with Peugeot's?

They are around 18 quid for a replacement sensor that's 433 MHz. Do they have to be paired with the car or do they auto connect?

Secondly is it worth the hassle or should I just get someone with Peugeot planet to disable the software toggle in the ECU?

I realised today that it must be a common fault in the 807 as the previous owner has painted over the dash icon with black paint 😂

Any advice or guidance would be gratefully received

Thanks all

Hi Mark

You have to appreciate that the sensors have batteries in and to be honest, 12 years operation is not bad going and these will at some stage need replacing.

Yes, new sensors need pairing - but you can't do it just with PP2000. They need an exciter tool or similar to be used in conjunction with PP2000 to both a) activate the new sensor and b) to pair it with the TPMS ECU on your 807.

The sensors are usually shipped dormant, so the battery is not utilised until needed.

Only today over on the Tyres Thread I kicked off a little section on Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems.

I see Marc has provided some good advice. Just checked out the price for a sensor for my Nissan Leaf just out of interest £33 cheapest, so the one for your car is a good deal cheaper.

Hope you solve the problem.

Thanks both.. I'll have to hunt around and see where I can take it to be done as don't want to be fleeced by main dealers!
