C5 X7 Sphere replacement

Post by liepinnssm »

Hi all,

I would appreciate help to determine what are the correct pressures for the spheres needed on my C5 X7 (STATION WAGON) (2011, 2.2HDi, 200 hp, 150 kW) - VIN VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].
For now, I think it is:

FWD: 2ea 50 psi
AFT: 2ea 50 psi
FWD middle: 1ea 75 psi
AFT middle: 2ea 52 psi

Is this correct?

I already have 230000 km on the car and I think the ride could be more like the "magic carpet" so I assume the problem is the old spheres.

Thank you! :)

Please note the sphere pressures are in BAR not PSI! There's a huge difference.

For your DW12 engine:

Front Corner Spheres (which should have a marking "MB" on the sphere): 45 Bar Each for Saloon or Estate.
The 50 Bar spheres are only for EW10A - DW10BTED4 - DW10CTED4 - ES9A - DT17BTED4 - DT20C engines and these will have an "MC" marking on the sphere.

Rear Corner Spheres Estate Only: 50 Bar

Front Accumulator Sphere (Centre Front) DW12 Engines with Sphere Marking "LX": 75 BAR both Saloon and Estate.
Rear Accumulator Spheres (Rear Centre) DW12 Engines with Sphere Marking "MA": 52 BAR (Estate only)

Hi,

Thank you very much for the answer. :)
My bad for writing PSI, didn't pay enough attention - thanks for pointing it out.

I see that I was close but it was a good idea to ask you guys (Citroen gurus).
Next thing is to find where to buy these spheres, it seems hard to find them on the market. At least in my country.

I know that they are more expensive, but the original Citroen ones will give you excellent service life - and these are the only spheres I would use personally speaking.

...second that. You also won't have to pay international shipping costs, as Citroen spheres should be available locally.

Having a real struggle. Spent a lot of time searching for PNs and prices. Found original spheres here in my country - 7ea total 1200 EUR - which is a lot. And found ALTS for 400 EUR from Poland with shipping.

I know that original will last a lot longer but the price difference is just awful.

During my search found an interesting file with the sphere interchangabilty: https://failiem.lv/u/dqfxtgb9t may be useful to someone.

So for now thinking about the spheres made by I.F.H.S:
C 545 FH - 45 bar
C 575 FR - 75 bar
C 552 RR - 52 bar
C 550 RH - 50 bar

Yes, the price difference is considerable.

Mister Auto is owned by PSA/Stellantis, and supplies to a long list of countries.
Countries not directly covered can be door-to-door delivered to by ColisExpat, who will accept Mister Auto orders, and deliver locally.
On the MA site, you can exactly specify your vehicle, and you'll find a large range of aftermarket parts (including suspension spheres) from a choice of manufacturers.

Having the original part numbers handy will allow quick double-checking on the MA sites, as you can enter OE part numbers as well as vehicle details. For each item displayed, the OE part number is also shown.
