Hi All
I am going to bite the bullet and get a new battery because I've had a few problems which i think is battery related, the most recent after leaving the car for a few days without any use, then started it yesterday and it flashed up Economy mode active and was a bit sickly starting. I have also had odd lights on dash appear when starting the car then disappear within seconds which i am thinking its when the voltage kicks in from the alternator?
Can anyone advise me what battery i need to order? i am worried i will order the wrong fitting?
thanks

I think we've asked for your VIN several times, so please provide that and I will tell you the correct capacity battery for the equipment on your vehicle, but if you want a specific PSA battery part number then see below:

Pretty sure it will be an 096 battery, and a Yuasa 5000 can be had for <£100 if you look in the right place, which seems to be a decent battery. Don't buy a Lion battery from ECP....!

You have a C4 PICASSO ESTATE - LEISURE 1.6 HDi 110 particle emission filter (DV6TED4) piloted manual gearbox 6.
You need at least a 720/70A battery, so you just need to make sure the posts and size are comparable.

Thank you for your replies, do you think the car showing economy mode active when you haven’t used it for a few days is a good sign of bad battery ?
I did get battery checked a month or go from local garage and he put a checker on and said it’s showing about 40% and 12v and 14v when engine starts, he said alternator is working fine but he said I’d advise you to change it, he never really explained why, not sure if his checker tells him if the battery has issues.

Re: C4 GP 1.6 07 EGS VTR Battery?
Ok, so on a modern vehicle with all the electronics and monitoring systems, I would suggest that 5 years is the average life for a battery. Over time a battery's capacity to hold a full charge will start to decrease. So although a multimeter will show the current charge or the charging rate with the engine running, that is no indication of the actual health of the battery. To test the battery properly, additional equipment is used. This generally involves measuring the battery status, fully charging it, leaving it overnight and then re-checking its status to see what percentage the battery is returning. Anything under a certain percentage would indicate a deteriorating battery.
Put it this way I recently had mine tested at the dealer as the Stop Start has never worked and they did a full charge and everything I mentioned - and the battery returned 98% - Stop Start worked for a few days then packed up again! So I'm leaving it now as I'm not going through all that again and can live without it. Everything else works perfectly, but the Stop Start system has high demands for it to work properly, so I'm not going to bother replacing batteries every 6 months for the sake of that!
But - if you find you are going into economy mode very frequently, bear in mind it takes a good while driving to recover the charge required to start a car - so if you use accessories or the radio then this will deplete the battery and cause the economy mode to kick in more frequently.
Giving the battery a periodic full charge overnight is always preferred to a quick charge, but there are still limits if the battery is reaching end of service life.
As always, make sure you follow the BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure when disconnecting the battery.

Re: C4 GP 1.6 07 EGS VTR Battery?
Finally going to order this battery and after going through a million types I found YBX5096 Yuasa Silver
Voltage 12 Volts
Capacity (C20) 80 Ah
CCA (EN) 740 A
Length 278 mm
Width 175 mm
Height 190 mm
Before I order it does can anyone tell me if those looks like the correct battery? I am a bit lost trying to find the exact dimensions the battery compartment can hold. The capacity and cold cranking looks ok and the terminal layout.
Thanks

The best way would be to remove the orginal battery & measure it.

Re: C4 GP 1.6 07 EGS VTR Battery?
The battery should fit snuggly and there is usually a tightener / bracket somewhere that you can use to secure it in place after fitting - there is usually some give / allowance for the different sizes by a few centimetres or less, - batteries in this category can range for example from:
Here are three battery sizes reading top to bottom - the width is the same, so it really comes down to length as to whether it will fit OK
W: 175 / 175 / 175
L: 278 / 246 / 242
H: 190 / 190 / 175

Re: C4 GP 1.6 07 EGS VTR Battery?
best to check sizes.
I had to get a 278 x 175 x 175 as the space was too small for a 190 h one. battery designation was 100 though this is commonly lumped in with 096 type. best to check size of cradle and bracket as well as the sizes of the battery. In the past I have always fitted the biggest battery possible rather than sticking to the puny ones that come with some cars. When your wife works all hours, 24/7, in all weathers, the last thing you penny pinch on is a decent battery. cheers

Cheers everyone
I think I will try take this one out and see what is already in, I managed to see some of the battery that is on but all I can see is its a exide.
What I found confusing is some battery checker sites say my car is a 027 battery and some say it’s a 096.
