I prefer the yellow ones - I can see them.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Guess what, the longest day June 21st 2021 failed to trouble the scorers on Pictures of the Day.
While the edit button hovers on changing the title to Pictures of every other day, Pictures of the week, or pictures only when I feel like it, there is an opportunity to redeem the reputation of the FCF faithful as joiners-in, and providers of a little bit of new content on a daily basis.
Money where my mouth is, my shutter has clicked and I present 2 images. One to make up for yesterday's collective embarrassing duck, and one for a glorious June day today.

and for todayThis artist and former Lorry Driver Alan Spillett does some excellent paintings of old lorries in iconic scenery.
Website Gallery here http://www.roadscapes.co.uk/gallery-25.html I have one of his collections "Roadscapes II". I deposited the book in the Pickled Egg Library here some time ago. Here's a not very good page shot of a scene at the Scotch Corner Hotel.....barely seeable now as you speed up or down the A1M.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I apologise for my non submission on POTD yesterday but I plead the need to celebrate an anniversary with SWMBO. She caught me posting the Tally Ho video yesterday and insisted that I shut down the lap top and take her out for lunch!! This happened because we had found a new watering hole the previous week where we got our just deserts:
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

'Spence' is the immediate area we live in, wouldn't get a lorry that size up here though.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
You may remember the Scotch Corner Hotel in the days when there was a roundabout on the A1 there. On the way home you see a persistent countdown of mileages to Scotch Corner. The reason for the VIP treatment of Scotch Corner on roadsigns is of course because it gives you the choice of turning left onto the A66, and heading over to Brough/Penrith and up the West to Scotland, or going straight on up the A1 up the esat side to Edinburgh.
I remember it covered in ivy or some other greenery and on one occasion purposely stopped there and had a token pot of tea, just to have set foot in it after passing it by so many times.

Regards Neil

Strange that Scotch Corner always seems quite a hike but Darlington doesn't (Daughter lives near Darlington).

I was up there at the Skeeby Travelodge a couple of weeks ago. I think they have replaced the road signs since then.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I needed a £1 coin for the shopping trolley as the one in my pocket had discovered a rabbit hole and disappeared into it irretrievably.
We keep a load of change in the ashtray (once found £86 and small change in there).
Opened it up and it stunk
Took the ashtray in to clean, also cleaned the coins.
The one in the center is a 50p, but copper-coloured. I had forgotten about it, dug it up in the garden last year.
Naturally, didn't get a trolley as I only needed a few things - that were out of stock anyway

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
In the days we used to rent out TV's we had some with slot meters which we had to empty on a regular basis. Early ones took 2/- or 10p coins, then they increased to 50p and latterly to £1. We used these coins for cash and particularly for parking meters, there was almost always a bag or two in the car. Occasionally we would have to take bags of them into the bank which they didn't particularly look forward to.
