C15 speedo cable

Post by twotanks »

Hi - does anyone have any idea how to detach the speedo cable from the speedo head on a Citroen C15. Need it detached so I can fully remove the instrument panel to replace quite a few bulbs. Thanks

If the same as a BX (quite likely), then there is a white plastic collar at the end of the speedo cable, where it attaches to the rear of the instrument. Just slide this collar back about 1cm (away from the instrument), and the cable should release.

Thanks for the quick reply Chris. Here's a picture of the cable. I used to have a BX many years ago but I think the cable was different to this one although I may be wrong. This is a 1993 C15
I tried pulling it back a bit but it wont budge. Worried about breaking it as parts for these are like hens teeth.

Got it! Taking the photo helped as I couldn't see it properly. Had to squeeze the white raised bits towards each other very hard and pulled back. Thanks again for your help.

Interestingly, I had the same difficulty, first time. You need to grip the right bit in the right place - not easy to see 'round the back'... [-(
Great photo - I have bookmarked that!
