Xantia Cats

Post by davoxx »

Had my cat pinched from my activa.
I can get a cat from a 1.8i or 2.0HDi second hand.
Are they the same cat?
I saw one on ebay - https://www.ebay.ie/itm/233919529101 does that seem right?
why?

How did they remove it? Did they use a chain pipe cutter? Good reason to set the suspension on the lowest setting if the car isn't in use.
I've got a couple of new Xantia cats. I'll see if they are applicable.

It was at lowest, but they jacked it up, crushing the sill and used I think a reciprocating cordless saw?

That is unfortunate.
Booby traps come to mind but it is unlikely that they will be back for anything else.

Have you reported it? They are of course going to target as many cars as they can and will need to dispose of them to convert to cash, may alert the police to be extra vigilant around scrapyards.

totally agree. I know most people think it is a waste of time but some bobbies do actually welcome extra info to trace thefts and criminals. Each piece of info just adds to the jigsaw and yours might be the bit that cracks it especially if a pattern emerges. Some of our bobbies are wonderful. Just don't get me smarted on the ones that aren't.

Whereabouts are you?

I found one for the 1.8i in the pile, but that might be going on a car I'm repairing. I'll check part numbers to see if it will fit the Activa, but I do have others that might also do the job with a bit of welding. These are all new.

My Xantias are kept on a private yard, covered by CCTV & the landlady's psychotic dog, luckily.

I'm in Ireland, but if it's easier you can ship to Northern Ireland.

It happened over a year timeframe while the cars were parked up, and they said not much can be done.
Only noticed it when I started them and thought there was a hole in the exhaust.

Next time I'll remove them myself before parking them up.

If you go for a used one on Ebay or the like you might buy your own one back.

The catalytic converter may (I repeat, MAY) be part number 1731 48. I don't know the correct engine code, but (in my copy of DocBackup) I looked (under exhaust) at the options for Turbo Injection XU10J2TE. However, looking at the part you just posted (and selecting the option for a 2.0l Turbo, which is what UK spec Activas had), it does suggest it would fit (but be aware that not all ebay sellers know what they are talking about).

Thanks Hell Razor5543, I think I'll have a gamble, I can't see getting one for any cheaper tbh.
