Hi chaps, asked the question on FB, but thought I would ask here as on there I only seemed to get people telling me why my Peugeot engine was no good (rather than answering the actual question )
So, I have a 2000 406 Coupe V6, which is shortly to give up its engine, gearbox and the like to allow me to assemble my own Activa V6. I have everything I need for the Activa build, but I was wondering what else you would salvage from a 406 that might come in handy on a Xantia (e.g., switchgear, motors, solenoids, ABS sensors, subframes....the like). I'm not too clued up on just how interchangable parts from one to the other is (ask me BX and 405, and I'll talk for hours!)
Is there anything else worth grabbing off a 406 Coop before it goes to the metal merchants? Auto-dimming rear view mirror might be an interesting retro-fit, as might auto wipers. Anything else?
Thanks

Have a trawl through David's blog. He did much the same and there is lots of useful information there.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I have to be honest, that's quite a sizeable thread and I couldn't see any mention of the 406 Coupe during my brief scan read.myglaren wrote: ↑05 Jun 2021, 13:00 Have a trawl through David's blog. He did much the same and there is lots of useful information there.

It's OK, I'll just bin it all. Done with it, tbh.

Am I right that you will be installing an ES9J4S engine, with the plastic intake manifold, whereas the factory Xantia V6 had the ES9J4?
If so then I would have thought that you would definitely want to keep the ECU, engine and ignition wiring harness, and ignition lock (& keys), as the equivalent parts from a V6 Xantia won't be right... Actually you will probably be better off using an aftermarket ECU and custom wiring harness, so as you say, bin it!
