MTE-Thomson

Unread post by Duncs »

Just bought a universal lambda sensor from GSF for my Pug 306 (not fitted it yet). It is made in Brazil by a company called MTE-Thomson. Just wondering if anyone else has used parts made by them and what there thoughts were.
Cheers

Oh s..te !
Another one of those NON genuine parts. Wont last more than a couple of hours.
Always buy genuine parts by your main stealer - no matter the cost is 10-100 times ...

Yup - the difference betwixt the Mann filter pulled off the BX and the Purflux one that replaced it, was very obvious.
For the sake of a few pence, it isnt worth scrimping. Never heard of Thopson - unless they are the same company which knock out cheap Phillips based TV & Video players.
EDIT - dodgey spelling by my fat fingered typing[}:)]

Thompson?
Just about the largest electronics company in Europe; they probably own Philips.

Oh well, we'll soon find out. BTW the MTE-Thomson part was £40 and an original £115, so an original's probably 2.875 times better!

Duncs, Do yourself a favour a get a Bosch lambda sensor, The universal ones are total junk! You will be changing it again very soon.
Do you still have the old sensor? Can you get the id number of it & source a new one by avoiding the Peugeot dealer?

Marty, the Thomson your thinking of has a 'p' in it, Thompson i believe and like you say have been around since before the TV and i think they are the actual owners of PYE (who for many years i thought where a small arm of Philips), so in all reality could be ANYONE! But they do may freeview boxes still!

I've fitted it and, so far, all is OK. The symptoms were juddering, lack of power, poor idling, backfiring on a warm start and diagnostic lamp coming on - so I'll soon know if it goes wrong again, and if it does I'll buy a Bosch.
Thanks to everyone who responded.
