lost power

Unread post by habo »

Greetings to the surviving members of covid 19
For a month or so I realized a hesitation when I accelerate for overtaking, which as the days go by I feel it more intensely, as if the car does not have the power it had at high speeds.
Yesterday on the highway (first small trip after 7 months) on a continuous uphill of 2 km where I used to accelerate in case of overtaking from 110 to 130 km with direct response to the gas, now from 120 the speed dropped to 80 and I could not overtake even a truck. There is no power either by changing to smaller gear.
It looks like the turbine is not giving me the power I need.
I used to have a similar problem, at high speeds and prolonged uphills when I needed power the turbine would go off. but then it was stronger and very easily noticeable. The problem was solved by changing the Turbo Solenoid Valve Pierburg.
And then and now the car never showed any warning signal for a problem.
In the afternoon I will connect it to the diagbox but since I am not a specialist any advice what to watch out for?
have a nice day

I forgot , my car is Grand Picasso 1.6 hdi model 2006

I connected the diagbox and I had these problems in the photos below which I believe are not related.
I opened the bonnet and told my son to start the engine and I saw smoke from the turbo area. as you can see in vide?.
The air intake hose after the intercooler also changes shape , especially when the engine is switching off. (Maybe from vibrations? Do we also have a problem with the engine base?)
Maybe the exhaust manifold is broken and the turbo cannot raise pressure?

I’m sure there are more experienced members regarding the 1.6 engine but these are the two problems my Daughter has experienced with her Picasso 1.6 HDI. Firstly they suffer from the electronic injectors failing at about 60,000 miles in my Daughters case. Starts with loss of power as one fails but usually ends up with all having to be renewed, under dealer warranty but they would only change one at a time. Secondly Turbo failure due to the oil feed/return becoming blocked with carbon if incorrect oil change intervals or incorrect oil is used. Hope this helps.

Nickcc102 thanks
I just got back from the garage.
The engineer told me that the smoke comes from the turbo (he said that it seems because the place of the turbo is black, I of course can not see it) and that it is natural for a turbo with many kilometers (mine has about 60,000 km) when it starts and the engine is cold, after a while when the turbo heats up the leak stops. When we tested it as the engine was hot, it did not emit smoke.
I was told that what happens with the air intake hose is natural, when the turbo is pressed, they inflate and when the pressure decreases they deflate.
So we return to the original scenario that the Turbo Solenoid Valve Pierburg has a problem, we had changed it 1.5 years ago.
Does anyone know what the codes from the diagbox F000 and F035 mean in practice?

Hello,
Regards smoke from the turbo area:
I decided to remove the metal protection and as you see in the video, the smoke comes from the connection spot of the exhaust with the turbine. And true enough, when it warms up, there is no more smoke.
Is there any kind of flange ( gasket?) in there? I tried to tighten or to loosen the screw on the necklace but it was impossible. Do you have any ideas?

About the loss of power of the turbine:
First I checked the turbine and looks ok.
About the wastegate, when creating vacuum it holds without problem.
After when inserting my finger in the pipe coming from the solenoid valve and with plenty of rounds, there is no vacuum created.
First I will try to change the pipe with original one as it was changed in the past and maybe it has softened by oils and closes. If the problem is not solved, I will change the solenoid valve.
Question:
Can we see from the diagbox if the solenoid valve works?
Can we see from the diagbox the turbo boost? At any moment? and real time.
Marc , does the manual tell how we change the pipe and the solenoid valve? And more specifically which pipes go to which valves?
